Ellen and Peter Johnson have stepped forward with a $6 million gift toward the Promises to Keep Capital Campaign, thus allowing HospiceCare to move forward with their plans for their $20 million HospiceCare Residence Facility adjacent to their current building.  In making the gift, they affirmed their belief in the philosophy of care that is at the center of hospice.  "The Hospice movement and its support of both patients and families confronting end-of-life issues with dignity and humanity, is one of the most important social movements of our time," said Peter.  He went on to note that the need for the Residence will only increase as Dane County's aging population grows.

HospiceCare's current Inpatient Facility, on East Cheryl Parkway in Fitchburg Center, is often filled to capacity and it has been necessary to turn patients away.  The new addition will help them meet the needs of the future.

Personal reasons ignited the Johnson's decision to offer this gift to HospiceCare, having used their services for two family members needing comfort and support during terminal illness.  The Johnson's were also aware that Don and Marilyn Anderson feel their gift for the existing

center to be their most rewarding investment.  Anderson said, "Returns have been immeasurable to each individual patient and family member."

Current gifts and pledges to the campaign total approximately $10 million. For more information on Promises to Keep contact Marcia Whittington at HospiceCare - 608-327-7200.

Groundbreaking for the
Ellen K. and Peter O. Johnson HospiceCare Residence will take place in early spring, with an estimated opening date in summer 2006.

WHA Moves to Fitchburg Center

Fitchburg Center is pleased to welcome the addition of the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) to CUES' (Credit Union Executives Society) Corporate Headquarters, located at 5510 Research Park Drive. WHA will occupy the second floor of CUES' corporate facility.

The Wisconsin Hospital Association's is a membership organization whose mission is advocating for the ability of its affiliates to provide high quality health care services to Wisconsin communities.  WHA strives to keep members informed of important local and national legislative issues, interprets clinical and quality issues for members, provides up-to-date educational information and encourages member participation in association activities.  Hospitals make up WHA's core membership.

Steve Brenton, WHA's president commented on the move to the new corporate office, "After researching a number of locations, we found that the CUES' office in Fitchburg met and exceeded our office relocation criteria, which included finding a space that offered comfortable and well-

planned office areas along with conference rooms that could accommodate the frequent meetings that we hold with our member hospitals."

Bill Dalrymple, managing director of the Fitchburg Center stated, "We are pleased to welcome The Wisconsin Hospital Association to our business park. As advocates for community-based health care, they will provide a new medical dynamic to this vibrant commercial center that believes community and environment go hand in hand."

A seating area in the lobby of the new WHA offices is awash with natural light from the winter sunshine.
